Snow Cawl This Year!

Posted on Mon 5th Mar at 1:57pm

Unfortunately, due to the heavy snow, serious weather warnings, and disruption to public transport and local services, the Cawl Festival and the evening concert planned to take place in Saundersfoot on Saturday 3rd March had to be cancelled. Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism (SCT) thank all their supporters, contributors to the event, the public and venues for all their understanding and hard work in the planning and preparation for this Festival Day.

Special thanks are given to the venues cooking Cawl - The Boathouse, The Regency Hall, Periwinkle, Beachside BBQ, Salvage Bar, The Old Chemist Inn and The Marina, many of them have delicious cawl available on their menus making Saundersfoot  a perfect place to visit and try this traditional favourite dish. The hardworking volunteer cooks at The Regency Hall generously donated their cawl to Brooklands Nursing Home and this was enjoyed by all the very appreciative residents. Thank you also to FBM who sponsored the Festival Programme and to all those organisations that had planned to take part in the Village Showcase

Members of the South Wales Gay Men's Chorus were snowed in and very disappointed that they could not travel from Cardiff. Both SWGMC and Fiddlebox have kindly agreed to perform in the village at a postponed time. Concert tickets will be refunded from the person/venue where purchased and an alternative date for a concert later this year will be announced in the near future.

Phil Odley Jr, SCT Chair said "I would like to thank everyone, including Sarah Whiddett who worked so hard by taking the lead in organising this popular event. It was disappointing that we had to cancel but it was important to keep everyone safe. We look forward to seeing you all at our Cawl Festival in 2019."
