Saundersfoot Cawl Cooking Competition 2017
The Cawl Trail and Welshfest Event held on Saturday 4th March 2017 was a great success. The contribution of all seven venues taking part in the Cawl Trail was enormous and enjoyed and appreciated by all taking part. Feedback was extremely positive with many people saying that they thought the quality of the Cawl was even better than in other years.
As ever there were lots of very considered and thoughtful comments on the public voting slips and every venue had many votes for first place. – everywhere was someone’s favourite and voting was close except for The Boathouse which received almost 50% of the total making them clear winners of the coveted Cawl Plaque for 2017. In second place was The Old Chemist Inn and in third The Salvage Bar. Beachside BBQ were awarded the Chairman’s Choice Spoon.

A very happy couple from Shropshire who had never done the trail before were very keen to leave a comment and wrote:
“My husband and I are in complete agreement – it’s the best £6.00 we’ve ever spent! A wonderful experience – delicious. We’ve been overwhelmed by the quality of all the bowls of cawl and the generous hospitality we have received”.
They also added that they plan to visit Saundersfoot again in the near future.
This event does so much to promote Saundersfoot and the efforts and hard work of all involved are so valuable and appreciated.
In addition to those providing Cawl a very big thank you to all at The Regency Hall and their team of volunteers who not only helped with the venue, made tea and coffee but made and served delicious cawl as well!
Thanks also to Michelle and Natalye Hinde for organising the stalls, St Issells and Saudersfoot WI’s for their delicious traditional welsh baked goods and to all those SCT members who helped in any way.
